Peptide
Gonadorelin
SaveSynthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) used diagnostically to assess pituitary gonadotroph function and therapeutically to maintain LH/FSH pulsatility.
Quick verdict
FDA-approved diagnostic agent. Also used off-label to preserve fertility during testosterone therapy. Well-characterized safety profile.
Evidence score
A rough internal score reflecting quantity, quality, and consistency of human evidence. Not a clinical recommendation.
What the research shows
Approved product with well-established pharmacology. Off-label use for fertility preservation during TRT is supported by clinical experience but not large RCTs.
Benefits
- FDA-approved for pituitary function testing
- Maintains LH/FSH pulsatility when dosed properly
- Preserves testicular function during exogenous testosterone
Dosage notes
Diagnostic: 100 mcg IV. Therapeutic (off-label): 50–100 mcg subcutaneously 2–3 times weekly.
Side effects
- Injection-site reactions
- Headache
- Flushing
- Rare hypersensitivity
Who should be cautious
Pulsatile administration is required for therapeutic effect. Continuous administration paradoxically suppresses gonadotropins.
