What the research shows
Hyperforin activates TRPC6 channels and broadly inhibits monoamine reuptake. St. John's Wort extracts standardized to hyperforin are effective for mild-to-moderate depression in multiple meta-analyses. However, hyperforin is the main driver of CYP3A4/PXR activation causing serious drug interactions.
